Sea fennel grows wild on cliffs and rocks battered by sea spray, from Brittany to the Mediterranean. Medieval sailors harvested it to prevent scurvy. Shakespeare mentions it in King Lear. In Brittany, it is called rock samphire. The essential oil is attracting growing interest for its remarkable cosmetic properties.
Exceptional draining and lipolytic action -- one of the most promising essential oils in slimming cosmetics. In vitro studies show that it stimulates lipolysis in adipocytes. Also an active plumping and brightening agent for the face. Distinguished from other slimming essential oils (cedar, grapefruit) by this specific action on fat destocking.

Dillapiole may be hepatotoxic in prolonged use. Short courses only. Contraindicated in pregnant women. Its saline, iodized scent is characteristic of the sea coast.
