Bursera graveolens
15-30€ / 10ml

Palo santo (Bursera graveolens) is a sacred tree of South America, used for centuries by Andean peoples to purify the air and accompany shamanic ceremonies. Palo santo = holy wood in Spanish. Its uniqueness: the wood only develops its scent after the natural death of the tree and several years of maturation on the ground (3-5 years minimum). Harvesting is regulated in Ecuador and Peru.
Unique richness in limonene (60-70%) for a wood -- one would expect sesquiterpenes. This limonene gives the fresh, citrusy notes blended with the woody depth. More earthy than frankincense, more lively than sandalwood. A sacred wood at the crossroads of woods and citrus.
