Ledum groenlandicum
20-45€ / 10ml

Greenland ledon (Ledum groenlandicum, now Rhododendron groenlandicum) grows in the boreal forests and peat bogs of Canada. First Nations peoples used it as a medicinal tea and for liver and kidney ailments. It is one of the most prized essential oils in holistic aromatherapy for hepatic detoxification.
Contains germancrene-D and limonene in a profile that specifically supports liver cell regeneration. Considered the most powerful hepatic regenerator in aromatherapy, even more specific than carrot or rosemary verbenone for the liver. Very expensive due to limited production.

Greenland ledon is the specialist essential oil for liver regeneration. Used in 3-week courses, 1 drop per day. Its high price (30-60 EUR/5ml) limits it to targeted hepatic indications. Well tolerated, no major contraindications at recommended doses.
It is an excellent liver drainer and regenerator, similar to verbenone rosemary. It helps the liver recover after medication, overindulgence or toxin exposure. 1 drop in honey in the morning, 10-day course at the change of seasons.
It is traditionally used as a complement for allergies (rhinitis, asthma, eczema) thanks to its overall anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic action. In diffusion or on the solar plexus. It combines well with blue tansy.
Ledum palustre (or Rhododendron groenlandicum) grows only in Canadian boreal marshes. The yield is low and harvesting is difficult in this hostile terrain. Expect 20-50 EUR per 5ml. No cheap substitute for its specific liver action.
