Daucus carota
10-20€ / 10ml

Wild carrot (Daucus carota) does not produce the orange root we know -- the edible carrot is a cultivated variety. Wild carrot is a European meadow plant whose seeds are distilled to obtain the essential oil. Herbalists have known it since the Middle Ages for its hepatic and skin properties. The essential oil is rich in carotol, a molecule that has nothing to do with beta-carotene (the orange pigment in edible carrots).
Wild carrot essential oil is one of the rare oils with a documented hepatic regenerative action in aromatherapy. Carotol stimulates the regeneration of hepatocytes (liver cells). It is also an excellent skincare ingredient for dull complexions, pigmentation spots and uneven skin tones -- hence its nickname 'healthy glow' in aromatherapy.
Les propriétés listées reposent sur des études in vitro et/ou un usage traditionnel. Sauf mention contraire, elles n'ont pas été validées par des essais cliniques humains rigoureux. Ces informations ne constituent pas un avis médical.

No, this is a common misconception. Wild carrot essential oil is rich in carotol (a sesquiterpenol), not beta-carotene (a pigment). Carotol has skin-regenerating properties, with no connection to vitamin A. The essential oil is distilled from the seeds, not the root.
