Anethum graveolens
5-10€ / 10ml

Dill (Anethum graveolens) is an aromatic plant used since Egyptian and Greek Antiquity. Its name comes from the Greek 'anethon' (which grows quickly). In Scandinavia, dill is inseparable from salmon -- 'gravlax' is salmon marinated with dill. The essential oil is distilled from the aerial parts or seeds.
Dill essential oil contains carvone (like spearmint), making it a mucolytic and digestive. It is also a cholagogue (stimulates bile secretion). Moderate use due to carvone (ketone, neurotoxic at high doses).

Excellent. Carvone (like spearmint) is a gentle antispasmodic and carminative. It reduces bloating, gas and intestinal cramps. 1 drop in honey after meals. Gentler than fennel and suitable for more people.
Well tolerated for adults. Carvone is not neurotoxic (unlike other ketones). Main precaution: avoid during pregnancy by precaution, and limit use to short courses. Usable from age 6 diluted.
Same plant (Anethum graveolens) but the essential oil is much more concentrated. 1 drop replaces a generous bunch of fresh dill. It can be used in cooking: fish, sauces, pickles. Very concentrated, start with half a drop.
