Ocimum basilicum ct. méthylchavicol
5-12€ / 10ml

Native to the Indian subcontinent, used for 5000 years in Ayurvedic medicine under the name 'Tulsi'. In India, basil is a sacred plant dedicated to Vishnu -- it is planted in front of homes to protect the family. The tropical chemotype (methyl chavicol) is cultivated in Vietnam, Egypt and the Comoros. It is one of the most powerful antispasmodics in the plant kingdom -- nicknamed the 'natural Buscopan'.
70 to 85% methyl chavicol (estragole), an antispasmodic of exceptional power. It acts directly on smooth muscle fibers, providing relief within minutes. However, estragole is potentially carcinogenic at high doses -- occasional use only (max 7-10 days).
Les propriétés listées reposent sur des études in vitro et/ou un usage traditionnel. Sauf mention contraire, elles n'ont pas été validées par des essais cliniques humains rigoureux. Ces informations ne constituent pas un avis médical.

It is THE antispasmodic reference in aromatherapy. Methyl chavicol (estragole) acts powerfully on digestive spasms, cramps, painful periods and hiccups. 1 drop + 1 drop of tarragon in a little carrier oil on the abdomen gives fast results.
Estragole (methyl chavicol) is classified as potentially carcinogenic in rats at very high doses. At standard aromatherapeutic doses and in short courses, the risk is considered negligible by experts. Avoid prolonged use and high doses.
Massage 1-2 drops of tropical basil diluted in a carrier oil on the abdomen in a clockwise motion. For acute bloating, place 1 drop on a neutral tablet. Use in courses of 5 days maximum.
