Thymus vulgaris ct. linalol
10-22€ / 10ml

Linalool thyme grows at altitude in Provence and Corsica (500-1000m). Cool temperatures direct its metabolism toward linalool instead of thymol -- a fine example of the environment's influence on chemotype. It is the 'children's thyme' in aromatherapy because it offers anti-infectious properties without the toxicity of phenol thymes. Its harvest at altitude makes it rarer and more expensive than thymol thyme.
60 to 80% linalool -- a profile closer to lavender than to thymol thyme. Neither skin-burning nor hepatotoxic, longer courses are possible. Usable in children from 3 years (diluted). Softer and more floral scent than classic thyme.
Les propriétés listées reposent sur des études in vitro et/ou un usage traditionnel. Sauf mention contraire, elles n'ont pas été validées par des essais cliniques humains rigoureux. Ces informations ne constituent pas un avis médical.

The quintessential family anti-infectious oil. Effective enough for common infections, gentle enough for children over 3 years. In chest massage diluted to 5-10%, it helps against respiratory infections. In diffusion, it purifies the air without irritating. The ideal essential oil for families with children.

It is the thyme best suited for children from age 6. Its biochemical profile, dominated by linalool, is much gentler than thymol. It is effective against common ENT infections (cold, sore throat, ear infection) without the toxicity risks of thymol thyme.
Less potent as a pure anti-infectious agent, but more than sufficient for common infections and with a significantly better safety profile. For severe infections in adults, thymol remains superior. For everyday family use, linalool is the right choice.
Linalool thyme only grows at altitude (above 800m), under specific terroir conditions. Its production is therefore more limited than thymol thyme, which grows abundantly in low garrigues. Expect 10-22 EUR per 10ml versus 8-18 EUR for thymol.
