Palmarosa is a tropical Indian grass used for centuries in Ayurvedic medicine. Its name comes from its olfactory similarity with rose -- it long served as an inexpensive substitute for rose essential oil in the perfume industry. It is found in the composition of 'Indian geranium' oil, a historical commercial product destined for European perfumery. At a price 5 to 10 times lower than rose geranium for similar properties, it offers one of the best value-for-money ratios in aromatherapy.
With a geraniol content often exceeding 80%, palmarosa is one of the most concentrated natural sources of this monoterpenol. Geraniol is a powerful antibacterial and antifungal agent, but also an excellent skin moisturizer. It is also a remarkable natural deodorant: geraniol acts on bacteria responsible for body odor.

It is one of the best. Its geraniol (70-85%) is powerfully antibacterial and its rose scent is pleasant. Apply 1-2 drops diluted under the armpits in a little coconut oil. Some people mix it directly into a homemade deodorant.
No, palmarosa is not recommended during pregnancy as geraniol may have a uterotonic effect at high doses. It can be used safely outside of pregnancy, from age 6 in diluted topical application.
