Thymus vulgaris ct. géraniol
12-25€ / 10ml

Geraniol thyme is the thyme that even children can use. Like its cousins (thymol, linalool, thujanol), it grows in Provence and Spain, but soil and climate conditions direct its chemistry toward geraniol -- a molecule also found in rose geranium and palmarosa. It is the gentlest and most 'floral' of the thymes, with a rosy scent that surprises when you expect culinary thyme. Provencal beekeepers know this chemotype well because bees love its nectar.
With 60-80% geraniol, geraniol thyme is closer to palmarosa than to thymol thyme in terms of profile. Neither skin-burning nor hepatotoxic, it is usable in children from 3 years -- a considerable advantage when seeking a gentle anti-infectious. Its antibacterial and antifungal action is lesser than thymol, but broadly sufficient for common infections. It is also an excellent skin tonic, useful in care for blemish-prone skin.

Geraniol thyme is the quintessential family anti-infectious for families with young children. Where thymol thyme is too aggressive and linalool thyme sometimes insufficient, geraniol offers a good compromise. In chest massage diluted to 5-10%, it helps against mild respiratory infections. In skincare, it tones and purifies the skin. Its price is higher than other thymes because production is limited.
Yes, it is one of the gentlest thymes. Geraniol is antibacterial and antifungal without being dermocaustic or hepatotoxic. Usable from age 3 diluted. Ideal for skin infections, acne and gynecological infections.
Less powerful as an anti-infectious agent but sufficient for mild to moderate infections. Its major advantage is safety: it can be used longer and in more people. For severe infections, thymol remains superior.
Yes, like palmarosa and geranium (also rich in geraniol). Geraniol is a natural antibacterial that acts on bacteria responsible for body odor. 1-2 drops in a base for homemade deodorant.
