Pinus cembra
10-22€ / 10ml

Swiss stone pine (Pinus cembra) grows at high altitude in the Alps, between 1500 and 2500 meters. Also called arolla pine, it is the tree of Alpine refuges -- its wood is traditionally used for furniture and room paneling in mountain chalets. Austrian studies have shown that sleeping in a room paneled with Swiss stone pine reduces heart rate and improves sleep quality.
Rich in limonene, alpha-pinene and bornyl acetate. Its olfactory profile is softer and more balsamic than Scots pine. Particularly reputed for improving sleep quality and reducing heart rate -- documented in Austrian clinical studies. The quintessential 'Alpine wellness' essential oil.

Swiss stone pine (Pinus cembra) grows at high altitude in the Alps (1500-2500m). Its essential oil has a particularly warm, balsamic, resinous scent. Austrian studies show that its scent reduces heart rate and improves sleep quality.
Austrian studies from the Joanneum Research Center show that sleeping in a cembro pine bed reduces heart rate by 3,500 beats per night. The essential oil, diffused, has similar effects. Ideal for insomnia and stress.
Relatively rare, as the tree grows slowly at high altitude and is protected in some regions. The essential oil is more expensive than other pines (15-25 EUR/10ml). Mainly produced in Austria, Switzerland and Italy.
