Pogostemon cablin

Patchouli is native to Southeast Asia, where it has been used for centuries as an insecticide to protect textiles from moths. When the first Indian fabrics arrived in Europe in the 19th century, their patchouli scent became synonymous with luxury and exoticism. In the 1960s-70s, it became the olfactory emblem of the hippie movement and flower power. Today, it is one of the most used base notes in luxury perfumery.
Patchouli is one of the rare essential oils whose scent improves with aging -- like a fine wine. A 10-year-old patchouli is more refined and sought after than a fresh one. It is also one of the most viscous essential oils, making it difficult to dose with a dropper. Patchoulol, its main molecule, is a sesquiterpene with remarkable vein-tonic properties.
Les propriétés listées reposent sur des études in vitro et/ou un usage traditionnel. Sauf mention contraire, elles n'ont pas été validées par des essais cliniques humains rigoureux. Ces informations ne constituent pas un avis médical.
