Myrtus communis ct cinéolifère
8-18€ / 10ml

Aromatic shrub of the Mediterranean basin, sacred in Antiquity. Consecrated to Aphrodite, myrtle symbolized love and purity -- brides wore myrtle wreaths, a tradition that persists in Germany. In Corsica, Sardinia and North Africa, the leaves are used to flavor meats and prepare liqueurs. Green myrtle essential oil is distilled mainly in Corsica, Morocco and Tunisia.
Distinguished from red myrtle by a gentler and more expectorant profile. Green myrtle is rich in alpha-pinene, 1,8-cineole and limonene -- a good respiratory decongestant suited to children. Red myrtle is more suited to adults for dry coughs. Compared to eucalyptus, green myrtle is less powerful but much better tolerated -- excellent choice for ages 3-12.
