Lavandula x burnatii
3-7€ / 10ml

Lavandin super is a natural hybrid between true lavender (angustifolia) and spike lavender (latifolia). It grows in Provence at intermediate altitudes. Lavandin produces more essential oil per hectare than true lavender, making it 2-3 times cheaper. It is the most produced essential oil in France -- the majority of 'lavender oil' sold in Provencal markets is actually lavandin.
Lavandin contains camphor (5-10%), absent from true lavender. This gives it an additional muscle-decontracting action, but also contraindications in children and epileptics. For stress and sleep, true lavender remains superior. For muscles, lavandin is a good economical choice.

No. Lavandin super is a natural hybrid between true lavender and spike lavender. It contains 5-10% camphor (absent in true lavender), making it more muscular but less suitable for babies and epileptics. 2-3 times cheaper than true lavender.
Excellent thanks to its camphor. In sports massage, it relieves soreness, cramps and muscle tension. 5-10 drops in 2 tablespoons of arnica carrier oil. Its price makes it ideal for generous application in baths and massages.
For muscles and baths, yes -- lavandin is even better. For stress, sleep and fine aromatherapy, prefer true lavender. For children and epileptics, always true lavender (no camphor). For an everyday workhorse oil, lavandin is the smart choice.
