Eucalyptus globulus
3-8€ / 10ml

Eucalyptus globulus is the 'classic' eucalyptus, native to Australia and massively planted worldwide (Portugal, Spain, China, Brazil) as a fast-growing tree for the paper industry. Australian Aborigines used its leaves to disinfect wounds and treat fevers. Eucalyptus was introduced to Europe in the 19th century to drain marshy areas (it absorbs enormous amounts of water). Eucalyptus globulus essential oil is one of the cheapest and most produced in the world.
Eucalyptus globulus is the MOST POWERFUL of the expectorant eucalyptus species, with 70-80% 1,8-cineole. But this power also makes it the most irritating for mucous membranes and the most contraindicated in children and asthmatics. Eucalyptus radiata is its gentler alternative, and eucalyptus smithii is the mildest version of the three.
Les propriétés listées reposent sur des études in vitro et/ou un usage traditionnel. Sauf mention contraire, elles n'ont pas été validées par des essais cliniques humains rigoureux. Ces informations ne constituent pas un avis médical.

Eucalyptus globulus is reserved for adults without respiratory problems. In inhalation, it powerfully clears the sinuses and bronchi. In chest massage diluted to 10-15%, it is a first-rate expectorant. For children, asthmatics and sensitive individuals, ALWAYS prefer eucalyptus radiata or smithii.
It is the most powerful respiratory eucalyptus, with over 80% 1,8-cineole. Very effective for bronchitis, sinusitis and productive coughs. But more aggressive than radiata: only for adults and children over 12. In chest rub at 10-15% in carrier oil.
No. Globulus is more powerful but harsher (irritating aldehydes). Radiata is gentler (alpha-terpineol) and usable in children. For severe bronchitis in adults: globulus. For ENT infections and family use: radiata.
Yes, but with caution. Its scent is very powerful and its cineole concentration can irritate the mucous membranes of sensitive people. Prefer short diffusion (10-15 minutes) and blend with softer essential oils (lemon, lavender). Not recommended around asthmatics and young children.
