Pinus sylvestris
5-10€ / 10ml

Scots pine is the most widespread tree in Eurasia -- found from Scotland to Siberia. Nordic peoples used its resin and needles for millennia to purify indoor air and treat respiratory infections. In Finland, traditional saunas use pine branches to whip the skin (vihta), which releases aromatic essences. Scots pine essential oil is a general and respiratory tonic, nicknamed 'the morning oil' for its stimulating effect.
Rich in alpha and beta-pinene (hence the name 'pine'), Scots pine stands out from black spruce and balsam fir by its more pronounced tonic action on the adrenal glands. It is the essential oil of deep fatigue, the winter 'energy slump'. Its fresh, forest-like scent is immediately recognizable and universally associated with cleanliness (it is found in many household products).

Scots pine is a powerful stimulant -- avoid in the evening. In morning diffusion, it 'wakes you up' and gives energy for the day. In chest massage, it helps clear the bronchi. For adrenal fatigue, the classic application is 2 drops diluted in carrier oil, massaged on the kidney area (adrenals) in the morning. Its affordable price makes it an everyday winter essential oil.
Yes, it is a general tonic known for stimulating the adrenal glands and fighting fatigue. Apply 2 drops diluted on the lower back (adrenal area) in the morning. Its fresh, forest scent is immediately invigorating in diffusion.
That is actually one of its best uses. It purifies the air, clears the respiratory tract and creates a pine forest atmosphere. Use 4-5 drops alone or blended with eucalyptus radiata and lemon. Well tolerated in diffusion.
In diffusion, it is generally well tolerated from age 6. For skin application, always dilute well (5-10%) as alpha-pinene can be irritating to sensitive skin. Not recommended for asthmatics.
