Origanum compactum
8-18€ / 10ml

Oregano is a Mediterranean aromatic plant whose Greek name means 'joy of the mountain' (oros = mountain, ganos = joy). Greeks and Romans used it both in cooking and medicine. Hippocrates prescribed it for respiratory and digestive disorders. Compact oregano from Morocco and Spain is the most powerful chemotype, rich in carvacrol -- a phenol whose antibacterial action has been widely studied. It is the equivalent of heavy artillery in anti-infectious aromatherapy.
Compact oregano contains 40-70% carvacrol, one of the most powerful phenols in the plant kingdom. Its spectrum of action is extremely broad: bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites. This is why some call it the 'natural antibiotic'. But this power comes at a price: it is EXTREMELY skin-burning and hepatotoxic with prolonged use. Strictly reserved for adults and short courses.
Les propriétés listées reposent sur des études in vitro et/ou un usage traditionnel. Sauf mention contraire, elles n'ont pas été validées par des essais cliniques humains rigoureux. Ces informations ne constituent pas un avis médical.

Compact oregano is arguably the most powerful natural anti-infectious agent. Its carvacrol (60-80%) is effective against a very broad spectrum of bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites. But it is very aggressive: adults only, short courses (7-10 days), diluted or in capsules.
Only highly diluted (max 5%) in a carrier oil. Neat oregano severely burns the skin. Its phenols (carvacrol, thymol) are extremely dermocaustic. Oral use in enteric-coated capsules is preferred for internal infections.
Several studies show the effectiveness of carvacrol against Candida albicans, including resistant strains. In short courses of 10-15 days, combined with tea tree for a local approach. Always under professional supervision for intestinal candidiasis.
