Melaleuca cajuputi
4-8€ / 10ml

Cajeput (Melaleuca cajuputi) is a tree of the Melaleuca family, like tea tree and niaouli. It grows in Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia. Its name comes from the Malay 'kayu putih' (white tree), referring to its white peeling bark. In traditional Southeast Asian medicine, cajeput oil is a universal remedy for pain, colds and infections. It is also the main ingredient in the original version of the famous Tiger Balm.
Cajeput is the 'forgotten cousin' of tea tree and niaouli. Rich in 1,8-cineole (50-65%), it is more oriented toward the respiratory system than tea tree (which is more skin-oriented). Less powerful than eucalyptus globulus but better tolerated, it is a good compromise between effectiveness and gentleness for ENT infections.
Les propriétés listées reposent sur des études in vitro et/ou un usage traditionnel. Sauf mention contraire, elles n'ont pas été validées par des essais cliniques humains rigoureux. Ces informations ne constituent pas un avis médical.

Cajeput (Melaleuca cajuputi) is a Melaleuca like tea tree, native to Southeast Asia. Rich in 1,8-cineole (50-70%), it is a powerful respiratory essential oil. Its name comes from Malay 'kayuputih' (white wood). It is the traditional respiratory remedy of Indonesia.
Same family (Melaleuca) but different profile. Cajeput is more respiratory (cineole), tea tree more skin-oriented (terpinen-4-ol). Cajeput is closer to eucalyptus radiata in use. It is gentler on mucous membranes than eucalyptus globulus.
From age 6 in diluted application, yes. Its 1,8-cineole content makes it contraindicated in young children and asthmatics. For children under 6, prefer eucalyptus radiata or saro, which are gentler.
